Our History

1986 | The Beginning

ITL is founded with a vision to deliver smarter, more reliable cabling and infrastructure solutions.

MAF : 1988-1994

Prior to the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries splitting up, ITL carried out work for them from Taupo North, including the Ruakura Research Centre where ITL installed thick and thin Ethernet using revolutionary connectors supplied by AMP.

1988–2001 | New Zealand Dairy

ITL installed and maintained infrastructure cabling for every dairy factory and Anchormart store from Taupo north, including the Dairy Board’s Waikato head office. After the industry merged to form Fonterra, ITL remained a trusted partner, continuing to support New Zealand’s largest dairy cooperative.

1990–1991 | A New Zealand First

ITL became the first private company to win a major cabling contract — the new Children’s Hospital (now Starship). This project marked a breakthrough moment for ITL as a trusted project partner.

1990–1991 | Voluntary Work

Alongside the new Children’s Hospital (now Starship), ITL volunteered its expertise to supply and install infrastructure cabling for Radio Lollipop. Our commitment didn’t end there — to this day, ITL continues to support Starship and Radio Lollipop with annual donations.

1993 to 2026 Tertiary Education AUT/Auckland Uni/Massey/MIT/Unitec

ITL starts providing, and continues to provide Structured Data Cabling services to the Tertiary sector;
– Massey University; 1993 through to today; Started work for Massey with being nominated for the new Albany Campus development, providing services to the Palmerston North campus and many building and campus wide developments, upgrades, audits and network deployments
– UoA; 1994 through to today; including the initial Tamaki Campus development, along with many building and campus developments, upgrades, audits, day-to-day support and network deployments at all UoA Campus locations
– AUT; 1997 through to today; including the many large developments such as AUT WG development, site redevelopments, upgrades and network and Wifi deployments throughout the City, Akoranga and South Campus sites

1998 to 2026 Nationwide Project deployment and Support

ITL Technologies were selected to deliver and support a Nationwide Telephony solution to one of our Nationwide clients. Later our services were expanded to incorporated Data cabling networks, AV solutions, CCTV and the deployment of the clients IT hardware, including routers, switches, PC’s and wifi, and this relationship continues today.

2003 – 2006 Alfriston College

ITL were selected to install the Structured cabling and Fibre network for the new Alfriston College school development for the Ministry of Education.

2004 Ministry of Education – SNUP (School’s Network Upgrade Project) Trial Phase

ITL Technologies were selected to deliver the initial trial phase of the Ministry of Education’s SNUP (School’s Network Upgrade Project), working closely with the MoE and their delivery partners.

2004-2007 – Vector Arena/Spark Arena Project

ITL were selected to undertake the Structured cablings and Fibre network within the new development. Later, ITL were selected to install the new Wireless Network and associated cabling within the Arena when they underwent the rebranding to Spark Arena

2005-2008 | International Works in the Islands

ITL technologies were engaged to undertake audits, site design and the deployment of Systimax Structured cabling solutions for one of New Zealand major banks in offices around the Pacific. These remote projects leveraged ITL’s experience in delivering and project managing complex builds, and our close working relationships with our clients and end users.

2009-2010 | Eden Park

ITL was selected to design and deliver the data, fibre and broadcast infrastructure for the Eden Park’s first future-ready communications network, powering everything from security and wireless to broadcast, point of sale, and the stadium’s big screens. This landmark installation introduced New Zealand’s first Tyco Category 7a shielded cabling system, supported by fibre backbones and custom-built solutions to meet the stadium’s complex needs. It was carried out on budget and on time for the 2011 World Cup. The result was a world-class, high-performance infrastructure built to handle the demands of major international events.

2009 – 2026 | Nationwide Audit and Upgrade Project

ITL were selected to undertake Cabling, Electrical, Network and Wireless hardware site audits for one of our Nationwide clients to enable the delivery of a Network upgrade project.

Following on from these site inspections, ITL were engaged to undertake the nationwide wireless network designs and design of the required cabling infrastructure.

The last part of the project required ITL to install and commission the new cabling infrastructure, install the Wireless network and Switches, and finally commission the site, this relationship still continues today.

Schools – SNUP from 2010-2015

ITL Technologies were selected as one of the companies providing Data cabling and Electrical services for the Ministry of Education SNUP project in the greater Auckland region.

Services included Civil works, underground ducts, cable pathways, Structured cabling, DB board expansions and general power outlet installation works.

2012–2013 | Auckland University of Technology – WG Building

ITL was appointed to deliver the high-performance network for AUT’s Sir Paul Reeves Building, a media-intensive hub. We implemented a data, fibre and audio-visual solution that that ensured reliability and scalability. AUT continues to trust ITL for ongoing infrastructure support.

2015 | Northshore Hospital Redevelopment

ITL Technologies were engaged to undertake the redevelopment and expansion of a number of floors at North Shore Hospital. The project was undertaken in a live environment, where outages were not possible. Working closely with the builder, the hospital and Health Alliance, ITL Technologies successfully delivered the upgrade works.

2016-2020 | Middlemore Mental Health Unit (CMDH Board) Nurse Call

ITL Technologies were chosen to deliver the Patient Safety and Nurse call solution into the new Middlemore Mental Health unit.

2016 – 2026 Nationwide CCTV Project

ITL were selected to design, install, and commission new CCTV systems for one of our Nationwide clients. This included providing various CCTV manufacturer and technology options for presentation to the client, working with our client to select the best option for their budget, undertaking the development of design guidelines and product selection standardization across all the sites. ITL continue to support these systems today.

2017–2025 | New Zealand International Convention Centre (NZICC)

ITL was selected to deliver the data, fibre and audio-visual infrastructure solutions for New Zealand’s largest convention centre. This state-of-the-art fit-out equipped the NZICC with the latest technology to power seamless connectivity, world-class events, and an outstanding visitor experience. Completed in 2025, this landmark project showcases ITL’s capability in large-scale, future-ready infrastructure.

2017 – Starship / Puawaitahi Centre

ITL were engaged to help design and to install a wifi solution so the patients could access the internet. ITL donated time and materials to enable this project to happen.

2017 – Audit, Network Risk assessment and Remediation Project

ITL Technologies were engaged to undertake an Audit project and to provide a Risk and Remediation report of 7 sites for our client.
This required ITL to undertake audits on each site, including reporting on the state of the Communications Cabling and Racks, HVAC, UPS, Raised floor, Power, Lighting, Earthing, Seismic bracing, Fire suppression, Passive Fire Sealing, Security and Access, CCTV, Water risks, In-ceiling services. From this report, ITL provided budgetary costs to undertake remediation works in order to lower the risk factors associated with each site.

2017-2018 – Auckland City Hospital – Clinical Decisions Unit

ITL were selected to install the Category 6a Structured Cabling solution for all IP based services including Nurse Call, Wifi, CCTV, Intercoms, Phones and IT for the Clinical Decisions unit at Auckland Hospital

2018-2020 | The University of Auckland B405

ITL were selected to provide the Structured Category 6a cabling solution, Backbone fibre, Campus fibre and copper network ties and AV specialist cabling, AV wall boxes, Projector screens, Projector brackets and design and manufacture specialist AV Speaker posts for the Building 405 development at the City campus

2020 America’s Cup – America’s Cup Village

ITL Technologies were engaged to provide and deliver the network cabling infrastructure, cabinets and UPS equipment, and to provide the deployment services of the Network switching, Wifi and AV packages throughout the Americas Cup Village.

2021-2022 | WDHB Waitakere Hospital Special Care Baby Unit

ITL were selected to install the Category 6a Structured Cabling solution and Fibre backbone for the new WDHB Hospital special care baby unit

2022 | Spark Women’s Rugby World Cup

Spark Women’s Rugby World Cup 2022 Auckland and Wellington. And on-site support.

2025 NZICC Completion

New Zealand International Convention Centre reached Completion in Q3 2025
ITL successfully completes the Data, AV and Theatre Cat6a Structured cabling, Data and AV Fibre structured cabling, Blown Fibre Backbone Network and Specialist AV cabling solutions.

2026 AIAL Domestic Processor Terminal

ITL Technologies are awarded the Structured cabling works for the new AIAL Domestic Terminal, including Landside and Airfield Structured cabling works in late 2025. Works will commence early 2026 and completion is expected in 2029.
